Tips to Keep Your Mobile Kitchen Health And Clean

Now, you have a fully equipped mobile food trailer for your catering business. Are you ready to go outside and serve your customers the best food? Well, let's not rush into anything. There is something important before the operation of your street vending business. Like brick-and-mortar restaurants, a mobile food trailer should obey health codes and laws for the sake of food safety. A clean and neat mobile kitchen on your trailer guarantees a high quality of food you serve. The lust for a bite of food will be gone quickly when customers see a greasy kitchen giving off a smoky smell. Keeping a food trailer inside clean is not all about sweeping the countertop or washing utensils. Today, this blog talks about how to keep your mobile kitchen healthy and clean. Here are some useful tips that make sure your catering business complies with health codes and federal laws.

Selecting the Right Water Sink

Water supply is an important part of the mobile trailer business operation. A commissary has a stable source of water for cleaning things and preparing food. Why not run a commissary instead? It has everything. A standard food trailer must have a water system including but not limited to a water sink, tap for cold and hot water, plumbing, clean water tank, and cley water tank. Codes vary in different states. Most states require NSF-certified 3 compartment sinks with a hand sink that should have a splash guard to prevent water from splashing around or contaminating food. Each sink has a specific function. For example, the sink for sterilization is for sterilizing utensils and cooking equipment only. You can not use it to wash food. A 3 compartment sink is usually fixed next to the rear tables. It is near the cooking area for an easily accessible source of water.

Keep Your Food at An Ideal Temperature

How do you keep meat and frozen food in your mobile food trailer? Or store them in a commissary? Your mobile food trailer needs a refrigerator to keep ingredients fresh. In the summer heat, meat quickly gives off an unpleasant smell if you don't keep it cold. For this reason, we always recommend that our customers install under-bench fridges or freezers for their BBQ trailers and fast food trailers. No food trailer owner wants to see customers throwing up and having diarrhea after eating their food. So, don't add fridges to your food trailer kitchen equipment.

Having an Ideal Mobile Kitchen Design to Avoid Cross-contamination

If you have experience in restaurant operations, you must know that raw meat should not come in contact with any cooked food because raw ingredients carry disease-causing microorganisms, especially meat and fish. Therefore, ingredients should be separated during the food preparation process.

The cooking area and the serving area are separated on our mobile food trailers. Various cooking utensils are mounted on the rear workbench for cooking raw ingredients. Once the food is prepared, it is transferred to the front service counter and handed over to the customer. During this process, it is almost impossible for bacteria on the raw ingredients to come into contact with the food. As a result, your customers enjoy a delicious and healthy meal.

Practicing Fire Safety

Greasy grease and fumes are a problem in every mobile kitchen. Don't just care about the choking smell it brings. The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) requires that any kitchen equipment that generates grease in use be equipped with a hood to reduce fire hazards in the kitchen. Also, don't forget fire suppression equipment! These are available in our mobile trailer kitchen units.

Running a mobile kitchen is certainly an exciting experience. You can serve your customers a variety of tempting dishes. But while you focus on improving the quality of your service, you need to pay attention to safety and hygiene. The above few tips will ensure the neatness and food safety of your trailer. Just follow them and your food mobile trailer business will be on its way to success!
